The vineyard
the estate
The story began in 1982, when Bernard Gonet started producing wine on the Côte des Bar with just a few acres of vines. Since then, our vineyard has evolved and grown, now spreading over 4 communes: Couvignon, Bar-sur-Aube, Arconville and Urville.
Today Bernard has handed down the torch to his sons Louis and Alban who, driven by the same love of the vine, have taken over the family business.

Our vineyard is located in the Southeast of the Champagne region, also known as Southern Champagne.
Our vines are planted in Kimmeridgian soil, a remnant of the Jurassic period consisting in a mix of clay and limestone.
The porous nature of limestone means the vines have ample access to water reserves, which results in an optimal balance between sugars and acidity in the grapes.
The south-facing slopes give the vines better sun exposure as they draw from the various stratified layers in the soil. This creates the distinctive architecture of the Côte des Bar: villages and farmland in the valleys, vines on the slopes and forests and farmland on the plateaux, creating a highly diverse landscape with a rich biodiversity.
We produce champagne using the three typical grape varieties from the Champagne terroir.
We mostly use Pinot Noir in our vineyard, a black berry with white flesh that gives the champagne its body and power.
Chardonnay delicately stands out for its floral, citrus and mineral notes, and can be enjoyed as a single grape variety in our champagne Blanc de Blancs.
Finally, Meunier adds roundness to the blend, creating supple and fruity wines.

SUSTAINABILITY
As winegrowers, we depend entirely on our environment, and we are proud of our commitment to preserving it.
That’s why we grow our produce responsibly and sustainably
Since 2020, the farm has been certified VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne) and HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), a progressive approach aimed at respecting health, biodiversity and the environment in order to preserve and enhance our terroir and landscapes.
